About Trevor Wight

Born in North Vancouver, Trevor grew up in Abbotsford, British Columbia where he began his formal art training in 1992 at the University College of the Fraser Valley (now known as UFV). In 1996, Trevor moved eastward to Alberta, completing his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the University of Lethbridge. In 1998, he was accepted into the Master of Fine Arts program at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. There, he developed his style of combining abstract painting with photo-based silkscreen. Upon completing his master's in 2000, Trevor stayed in Saskatoon to complete his Bachelor of Education, specializing in teaching high school art. In 2002, Trevor moved to Scotland where he taught high school and exhibited his work throughout Scotland and the UK. Upon returning to the Fraser Valley in 2003, Trevor exhibited his work throughout the lower mainland over the next few years. In 2010, Trevor took a“parental leave” from art-making to help raise his four children. In 2017, Trevor embarked on his most ambitious series of paintings to date: “All of the Above". Since 2020, Trevor has exhibited several of his new pieces in group shows and is looking foward to a solo exhibition in August - September of 2022. Trevor enjoys sharing his love for art with his students at Yale Secondary in Abbotsford where he teaches art full time. Besides art, Trevor’s other passion is the sport of track and field. An athlete for most of his life, Trevor now spends much of his time at the track coaching athletes of all ages. Trevor lives in Abbotsford with his wife Katherine, their four children; Luke, Ben, Leah and Thomas, and their dog Juno.
